What are the origins of the traditional matrilineal  definition of who is a Jew?
When and how does the idea conversion to Judaism come about?
What historically has been required of converts to Judaism?
What changes occur in the modern period to the definition of who is a Jew?
The struggle for the definition of who is a Jew in Israel.

We will try to find answers to these and many other questions
during a series of four meetings with Rabbi Alan Iser.
